Folks, I need some beta testing from the Nation...

Yuengling lager is nice, brown, full bodied lager brewed in Pottstown, PA. Is is the oldest continuously running brewery in the US. But, enough history.

They used to make this great BBQ sauce. Not too thick, not too thin. It had a nice balance of sweet vs. tang. I have been trying to duplicate. Hutch had some good input and after adding his suggestions, I think I have it, but wanted to know what everyone thinks. I am hoping that some of you will try this and comment on some improvements.

Yuengling Lager BBQ Sauce:

Ingredients:
1 (15 ounce) Tomato Sauce
1 (16-ounce) Yuengling Lager
1 + 1 Tbsp + tsp Brown Sugar, Packed
1 ¼ tsp Onion Powder
1 ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Dry Mustard
½ tsp Cornstarch
3 Tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
½ tsp Kosher Or Sea Salt
¼ tsp Celery Seed, Ground

Metrics:
Difficulty: Easy
Yield: ½ Quart
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time: 1 Hour
Keywords: Sauces
Attribution: Three Dogs BBQ

Directions:
Bring to boil. Simmer till reduced and slightly thickened.

Thanks,

Bill

I would be glad to give this a try.
Would a Budweiser be a good substitute for the lager?
I don't believe that lager is available locally.

I would not use a Bud for this.

Killian's Irish Red, or any other dark lager would work in this.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill same problem here. I have never seen Yuengling around here. What do you think about using Negra Modello or a Guienness stout? I have no idea of the flavor of yuengling

Yuengling = Killians Irish Red

No Guinness, maybe the Modello.

Thanks Bill. Next trip to the store I'll get some beer and give it a whirl (I'll buy some Guinness to drink while I make the sauce with Killians or Modello   )

You do? Could you please PM me the ingredient list? The hot tasted like the regular, but with a little heat...
